The last major war fought on Megiddo was the 'Battle of Armageddon' in 1918, which finally resulted in the establishment of British rule in Palestine under the leadership of General Edmund Allenby.

After the victory in Megiddo, Allenby took the name of this battle as his title, becoming the First Viscount Allenby of Megiddo.
