King Herod's (1st Cent. BC) Western Palace. At 3,700 square meters, the Western Palace is the largest structure on Masada. The palace has an open courtyard containing living quarters, guard rooms, reception rooms and a series of bathing rooms.

It's the first among the three palaces in Masada. One of the rooms in the palace is identified as King Herod’s throne room, the seat of authority when he was in residence at Masada.
