Mount Tabor (1886 ft or 575 M) and vicinity-one of the most fertile regions of Israel today. This Biblical mountain is associated with Deborah, Barak, Gideon and Samuel. However, Mount Tabor is more famous for its affiliation with Jesus' transfiguration. You can see the Catholic Basilica of Transfiguration at the summit. There is also an Eastern Orthodox monastery at the mountain top.

Tabor is mentioned 12 times in the Old Testament (NKJV Bible), viz. Joshua 19:12, 22, 34; Judges 4:6, 12, 14; 8:18; I Samuel 10:3; I Chronicles 6:77; Psalms 89:12; Jeremiah 46:18 and Hosea 5:1, but has never been mentioned in the New Testament by name. For the transfiguration of Jesus see Matthew 17:1-9, Mark 9:2-8, Luke 9:28-36 and 2 Peter 1:16-18.

"As I live, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, Surely as Tabor is among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come" (Jeremiah 46:18).

"The north and the south thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name" (Psalms 89:12).

"1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him" (Mathew 17:1-3).
