Ma’aleh Shaharut or Shaharut Cliffs (600 M above Mean Sea Level)

The Shahrut Cliffs overlook Arava Valley-a narrow strip of land 8-10 kilometers wide and 175 kilometers long, that stretches from the Dead Sea all the way down to Eilat. Today, the Israeli part of  Arava is a stretch practising intensive agricultural methods for cultivating vegetables, fruits, flowers and raising livestock. Over 90% of Israel's melon exports come from the Arava. There are three agricultural research stations in the valley. I know it is tough to believe that something of this sort can be achieved in these extremely harsh environment.

SHAHARUT-a settlement in southern Israel near Eilat.

Founded in 1985 and named after the nearby Shaharut Mountain, it is perhaps the most isolated settlement in Israel in terms of accessibility. The word "Shaharut" is derived from Bible and means "youth" (Ecclesiastes 11:9).

From Shaharut Settlement.

1P: These 60 plus standing stones are pre-historic and are believed to be erected as a memorial for the dead ones from a single family through generations.
