A Crusader tradition identifies the hill as the area where High Priest Caiphas and his colleagues decided to arrest Jesus (Mathew 26:59; John 11:47-50)-therefore the name "Hill of Evil Counsel". Traditions also identify the Hill, as where the High Priests Annas and his son-in-law Caiphas lived. It was Caiphas who led the Sanhedrin that produced death verdict on Jesus. Another tradition claims that Akeldama (Acts 1:19) is on the Hill of Evil Counsel; and therefore is where Judas hanged himself. However, the hill has one of the best lookouts in Jerusalem. From its top one can observe everything that makes Jerusalem special.Today, the hilltop is where the Israel headquarters of United Nations Troop Supervision Organization (UNTSO) is placed.
