St: Mary's German Hospice (12th Cent AD)-Jewish Quarter, Jerusalem.

Built by a German Military Order called St: Mary of the Teutons in 1190 as a hospice in Jerusalem to take care of German Pilgrims. The hospice included a church (21 x 21 meters with three halls), a dormitory, 4-5 cisterns and a hospital. It was subsequently destroyed (1187 by Muslims), rebuilt (1229 by Crusaders), and destroyed again (1244 by Muslims). Thereafter it took approximately 700 years for the complex to get rediscovered; to be precise in 1967, when this part of Jerusalem was annexed to Israel. I guess rennovations are still going inside and thats why tourists are not allowed now.
