Siege camps built at the foot of Masada by the first century Roman General, Flavius Silva. He arrived here in 72 AD with the Tenth Legion.

 

Siege camps at the base of Masada Contd. Eight such camps were built by Flavius Silva. Silva's 10,000 soldiers had to really work hard to defeat the resistance offered by 960 men, women and children on Masada.

The  8 camps were connected by a 7-mile-long, 6-foot-thick wall.

Nahal Tse'elim and Nahal Ben Yair from Masada. These dry riverbeds have some popular hiking routes.

PURIM (ADLOYADA) CELEBRATIONS-CARNIVAL, SEDE BOKER (27th FEBRUARY, 2010).

It's my second carnival in Sede Boker for purim. Remind you purim is a festival commemorating an incident probably happened in the 5th Century BC as recorded in the Biblical Book of Esther: the deliverance of Jewish people from wicked Haman by Queen Esther. I am not adding more details about purim and the carnival in Sede Boker.
