A Section of Byzantine (6th Cent. AD) Cardo Maximus. Byzantine Cardo was built by Emperor Justinus (565-527 AD) as a major road linking the two main Churches of Jerusalem at the time: the Nea church (built by Justinus himself) and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
