Arab Village of Abu Tor and the 'Valley of Hinnom' (Synonymous to Gehenna or HELL)- Jerusalem. Jewish section of Abu Tor is known as Givat Hananya.

The green slopes you see below are part of a valley called "Gey Ben Hinnom" in Hebrew today. Identified as the biblical 'Gehenna' or 'Hinnom Valley', where once pagans sacrificed children to their God Moloch. Later, it became an ever burning garbage dump of ancient Jerusalem. Gradually 'Hinnom Valley' got associated with  a place of filth, abomination, unquenchable fire and even as an entrance to hell! In Christian traditions it is the site of Aceldama where Judas Iscariot hanged himself after betraying Jesus. No wonder why in English Bible, the word "hell" is sometimes used to replace the Hebrew word Gehenna.
