The Western Byzantine Gate (5th Cent. AD) of Masada. This gate of dressed stones led over the ramp to the top of the mountain during the Byzantine era. Climbing down the steep path outside the gate takes you to an ancient cistern. The weather was too windy that we decided to skip walking the 500 M long trail.
