Water at Masada.

Being  in a very arid region, water should definitely be precious in Masada. A simple glance to the surroundings can make you feel how dry Masada still is. Yet one finds remains of many grand public bath houses and swimming pools, most 2000 years old! Thanks to King Herod who built dams that diverted floodwater to channels leading to 12 cisterns hewn on two levels into the rocky slope. The plastered cisterns could hold an amazing 40,000 cubic meters of water.
