Built by Byzantines (5-6th Cent AD) and renovated during Crusaders (12th Cent AD). The church has an area of 170X184 ft. The Arab name of Beit Guvrin, Tell Sandahanna, is derived from the Latin name of the church, "Santa Anna". The picturesque ruins of this ancient church appears to me still fresh and ready to function.
