Mount Sodom is 8 km long, 5 km wide, 742 feet above the Dead Sea water level, and yet 557 feet below sea level. The whole mountain, is nothing other than a billion tons of pure salt which is almost ready for the table! Due to long term effects of climatic changes, erosion, temperature and rainfall on these huge salt rocks, structures with diverse shapes have evolved gradully. The most famous is of course the pillar of Lot’s wife and can be easily seen from Highway 90.
