VISITING HAYARKON AND TEL APHEK / ANTIPATRIS NATIONAL PARK (13th NOVEMBER, 2009)-The Site of Biblical Aphek (I Samuel 4:1) and Antipatris (Acts 23:31)

Tel Aphek (later Antipatris) is the place where the Israelites lost their 'Ark of the Covenant' to the Philistines (I Samuel 4:1). It is also the place where St: Paul was taken by the Roman Soldiers on the way to Caesarea (Acts 23:31). The biblical city is currently surrounded by the 16th century Turkish Fortress, which is part of a 3250 acres spread 'HaYarkon and Tel Aphek (Antipatris) National Park'. Remind you, Yarkon (27.5 km) is Israel's second largest river after the Jordan and has its origin from this park.
