'Tower and Stockade' is a settlement method used by Jewish settlers to defend their settlements during the 1936-39 Arab revolt. This settlement was built in Tel Amal by Jewish Zionist pioneers in a single night (December 10, 1936)! Size of the settlement was 35m x 35m and basically consisted of a twelve meter tower (for observation and communication), a dining room and a clinic. If you carefully look at the walls, you can see that its made of wooden panels filled with gravel. Done so as to protect the settlement from Arab gun shoots! The model was so successful that 56 identical settlements were established throughout Israel between 1936-1939 to defend against Arab rioters. What you see here inside Gan HaShalosha National Park is the exact replica of the Tel Amal settlement which was dismantled and moved from the original site. The site of Tel Amal is now Kibbutz Nir David and lies not far from this reconstructed settlement.
