Ein Feshka or Einot Zokim is an oasis on the shore of the Dead Sea, where freshwater springs flow abundantly creating pools, rich flora and a reserve full of wildlife. It is the lowest nature reserve in the world. Ein Feshka is just 3 km south of Qumran, where Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Because of its natural freshwater supply, it is believed that Ein Feshka was the agricultural farm of Qumran community. It seems likely that the people living in the area were also engaged in raising livestock. Archaeological excavations have also revealed evidences for the existence of a community from the Qumran period (1st Cent BC to 1st Cent AD).
