It was once a mill of 11 pairs of gristmills, exploiting the streamflow of Yarkon. The mill is very close to Jarisa Mound, hence also known as Jarisa mill. Scattered over the site are the remains of 3 gristmills from the 19th century, the current mills were built over the remains of older building. Speculations of mills operating at the site as early as the Roman Period (1st Cent AD) are also not ruled out. The site is called "Sheva Tachanot" (Seven Mills) due to the fact that one of the buildings here contained seven grinding facilities. The site was active until the beginning of the 1940's.
