Ein Gedi (Kid Spring) is an oasis in the Dead Sea region near Masada.Today, Kibbutz Ein Gedi (est. 1956) and Ein Gedi National Park (est. 1972) are the major attractions here. Regarding its Biblical significance, David fled to this oasis to escape the wrath of King Saul. When Saul returned from following the Philistines, he was told, "Behold, David is in the wilderness of Ein Gedi." Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men in front of the Wildgoats' Rocks. - 1 Samuel 24:1-2. In the Song of Songs the lover declares that her beloved is a "cluster of henna blossoms in the vineyards of Ein-gedi" (1:13).
