A garden and sports center dedicated to the rebirth/redemption of the Jewish Quarter after 19 years of desolation under Jordanians (1948-1967). In the early 19th century, the area was a leper colony. Archaeological excavations revealed the huge vaults of Nea Church and remains of a Monastery dedicated to Stephen the Armenian (12th Century AD). The four columns from the Crusader Periods are clearly visible. Ruins also include portions from later Arab periods. There are also online reports indicating that the garden has Byzantine, Greek, and even some Second Temple Period ruins.
