Remember my earlier posts on the shorter version of 'Ramparts Walk' from Jaffa Gate to Dung Gate on Jerusalem Walls? The following walk from Jaffa Gate to Lions' Gate is the longer version. It took us 1.5 hours to walk the whole stretch. The walk can be done in two phases. The first part from Jaffa Gate to Damascus gate, through the New Gate will give you a good picture about the Christian Quarter of Jerusalem. You can get down to the streets at Damascus Gate or continue the walk further. The second lap from Damascus Gate to Lions' Gate, through Herod's Gate is the best way to explore the Muslim Quarter from the walls. Although the views were great, we were the only tourists who decided to take the second lap. Some of the paths looked shabby and isolated as if no one has walked over it for days. In addition, at late hours, this section of Ramparts Walk (Damascus to Lions' Gates) is considered relatively unsafe for the tourists. For more details, see also:
