BETHPHAGE (HOUSE OF FIGS): The place from which Jesus sent his disciples to find a donkey and a colt; which He used to enter Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.

On Palm Sunday Jesus triumphantly entered BoldJerusalem by riding a donkey. The day marks the beginning of Passion Week. The journey began from a village near Jerusalem called Bethphage. The event has been mentioned in all the four Gospels (Mark 11:1-11, Matthew 21:1-11, Luke 19:28-44, and John 12:12-19). There are two churches to commemorate this event. A lower Franciscan (Catholic) and a Greek Orthodox church upon a hill. The Catholic church is open to public and the other one is not easily accessible.
