Napoleon Bonaparte used this hospice as his headquarters during his Palestine campaign in 1799. We tried to visit the Church, but the guards outside were quite unfriendly to entertain. We were told that only when we have permission from authorities, who inturn has to be reached at least a week before by phone, will be allowed inside. So dropped the plan.
