Tel Aviv, Israel's second largest city is only established in 1909, making it one of the youngest cities in Israel. However, not many know that Tel Aviv also has an ancient site inside the city. Known as Tel Qasile, this archaeological spot was a Philistine harbour through 12th to 10th centuries BC. Located near the Yarkon River and presently preserved inside the Eretz Israel Museum of Tel Aviv, this 3000 years old site has some interesting findings to offer. One of the major attractions is the three 'Philistine Temples' built one upon the other. The remains of these 12th century BC temples are of exceptional importance for the archaeologists, as till date not much is known about the Philistine cult. Near the temple area, three distinct Philistine settlement strata with much advanced residential and industrial areas are also uncovered .
